Licensing

SPSS Software licenses are leased on a fiscal-year basis. License fees grant you the Right To Use (RTU) the software for the fiscal year that runs from September 1 through August 31 of the following calendar year. The software is available to eligible users who use the software for teaching and non-commercial academic research. As classified by IBM, non-commercial academic research means research by degree-seeking students and faculty members where the results of such research are not intended primarily for the benefit of a third party; such results are made available to anyone without restriction on use, copying or further distribution; and any copy of any such results is furnished for no more than the cost of hosting, reproduction, and shipping.

Each Single User SPSS license leased from SDS entitles you to install SPSS software on one computer only. Sharing of licenses, either by using a central key server (in a lab environment, for example) or by purchasing one license and installing the software at work and at home (work-at-home use) are not permitted. The software may be installed concurrently by leasing a Concurrent Use SPSS License.

Note: License fees are not prorated.

Updates and Upgrades

Current licensed users can upgrade for free once the new version is available to SDS. A new license does not need to be purchased in order to upgrade. The licensee or user should contact SDS with the order number and request to upgrade.

SDS only distributes the latest releases of software and will send announcements to currently licensed users when a new version is available.
