What if I cannot use a smart phone, mobile phone, or land line?
The university recommends that you use the Duo Security application in conjunction with a smart phone or tablet such as an iPhone or an Android device (Blackberry and Windows phones are also support) for two factor authentication.
If you cannot use a smart phone or tablet, you may use a mobile phone or a land line. Two-factor authentication can be completed via text (SMS) message or via voice.
In the rare circumstance where you:
- require two-factor authentication in order to perform regular work tasks in accordance with your employment at the university; and
- do not have access to a smart phone or tablet (iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows) onto which you can install the Duo Security application, or said device does not have wireless or mobile network access in your regular location of employment; and
- do not have access to a mobile phone capable of receiving phone calls or text (SMS) messages, or said device does not have reliable reception in my regular location of employment; and
- do not have access to a private phone capable of receiving phone calls
