ID Photos

The ID Photo Applications Suite is a collection of applications related to the display of photographs of members of the University community, which are taken when eligible users get their official UT ID Cards.

  • ID Photo Gateway
    The ID Photo Gateway provides official student ID Card photos to authorized administrative applications within the University of Texas at Austin. 
     
    Requests for application integrations can be submitted to idphotos@utlists.utexas.edu. The integration request must be reviewed and approved by Academic Information Systems (AIS) and the Information Security Office (ISO) before an integration and authorization scheme can be developed.

    Features

    The ID Photo Gateway is accessed through authorized administrative web applications. The ID Photo Gateway is supported on the list of preferred secure browsers. The current list of browsers can be found on the university's Web Guidelines page.

    There is no charge to the user or application owners for this service.

    Service Level Objectives

    Overview

    This document defines the service level agreement for the ID Photo Gateway.

    Service description

    The ID Photo Gateway provides student ID Photos to University of Texas at Austin administrative applications.

    Intended users

    The ID Photo Gateway can be used by authorized users of departmental administrative applications.

    Supported computing environment

    The ID Photo Gateway is accessed through authorized administrative web applications. The ID Photo Gateway is supported on the list of preferred secure browsers. The current list of browsers can be found on the university's Web Guidelines page.

    Technical support

    Both Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support is available during normal business hours. Routine requests are typically addressed within one business day.

    Tier 1

    End users should start with Tier 1 technical support. Users should contact their support contacts of the administrative application they are using to access the ID Photo Gateway.

    Tier 2

    Application support contacts will contact the ID Photo Gateway support contacts using the idphotos@utlists.utexas.edu support list at their discretion.

    Maintenance

    ITS will notify customers about both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance using the Alerts and Outages page of service availability and service delivery issues. Services may not be available during the maintenance periods.

    Scheduled maintenance may occur Tuesday mornings at 7:00 a.m., as needed. To the maximum extent possible, installation of service, application, and security updates will be performed during scheduled maintenance.

    Unscheduled maintenance tasks that require service downtime will be announced as soon as possible on the Alerts and Outages page.

    Change notification: ITS will notify customers using the Alerts and Outages page of service availability and service delivery issues for the ID Photo Gateway.

    User responsibilities

    Subscribers (users) of the service and identified owners/administrators agree to be aware of and adhere to the university's Acceptable Use Policy.

    Application owners that implement the ID Photo Gateway subscribers agree to:

    • Provide a method on the mainframe to check authorizations for their users.
    • Maintain up-to-date authorizations for their users.
    • Monitor their application for misuse of the ID Photo Gateway by authorized users.
  • Virtual ID Cards
    As a member of The University of Texas at Austin, you have a Virtual ID Card that displays your official ID Card photo, UT EID, preferred name, and university affiliations. You can access this card at any time by logging into the Virtual ID Card website. 
     
    The Virtual ID Card is not to be used as a substitute to your physical ID Card. Virtual ID Cards do not provide access to buildings on campus or meal plans associated with physical cards, cannot be used to board Capital Metro buses and commuter rail, and may not be accepted as a valid form of identification at all locations on campus.
     
    If you are encountering any issues with your Virtual ID Card, please contact idphotos@utlists.utexas.edu with a description of the error and a screenshot if possible.

    • Requires your UT EID to use
    • NEVER rely on your Virtual ID card as a replacement for a lost or stolen university photo ID card

    Service Level Objectives

    This document defines the service level agreement for the Virtual ID Card.

    Service description

    The Virtual ID Card provides University of Texas at Austin ID card holders a way to gain access to services when they do not have their physical ID card in their possession.

    Intended users

    Service owners may choose to allow members of the University of Texas at Austin community to log in to this service with their UT EID and password in lieu of presenting their physical ID card.

    Supported computing environment

    The Virtual ID Card is accessed through one of the preferred secure web browsers. The current list of supported browsers can be found on the university's Web Guidelines page.

    Technical support

    Both Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support is available during normal business hours. Routine requests are typically addressed within one business day.

    Tier 2

    Tier 1 support contacts may escalate support tickets to the idphotos@utlists.utexas.edu support list at their discretion.
