3270 Project:

Project Owner: Scott Richardson - ITS  Project & Technical Lead: Kim Montroy - ITS

With the release of Catalina (Mac OS 10.15) ITS needed to update the current TN3270 offerings. This was necessary due to the fact that Catalina does not support 32-bit applications. University IT Leadership had made ITS aware that they felt that the University should move to a browser-based 3270 offering. This resulted in the following:

  • Zoc 7 was purchased as a temporary 3270 offering for Catalina users
  • Zoc 7 also supports Mac OS 10.6 and above
  • Dropped QWS vendor support contract
  • Purchased Virtel Web Access
  • Virtel Web Access is configured to work with Enterprise Authentication & DUO and thus is compliant with MFA and No VPN session is required
  • ITS strongly encourages all users to move to the use of Virtel Web Access (VWA) to access the Mainframe
  • Proposed retirement of ITS funding and support for Zoc - February 28, 2021
  • Proposed retirement of ITS funding and support for QWS - February 28, 2021
  • Proposed retirement of ITS funding and support for Ver. 3.4.0 for Mac - February 28, 2021
