Windows Deployment Services
The Campus WDS service is intended for one-time or infrequent system imaging, such as the remediation of a compromised or inoperable system, or the deployment of a new computer to a faculty or staff user.
Access to WDS is limited to an authorized Technical Support Contact (TSC) and/or IT support staff for a department or college. To be authorized, ITS must certify that a department's network meets the minimum requirements to participate in the service.
- Deploys a Windows desktop or server operating system image over the campus network (see Available Windows Images for a list of operating systems)
- Streamlines rebuilds, upgrades, and new computer deployment - systems may be ready for use in less than one hour when complimented with a systems management service
- Compatible with a variety of hardware
- For large scale deployments, a local WDS service may be needed
The WDS service is available at no cost to authorized staff.
Routine requests are typically addressed within one business day.
UT Service Desk staff may escalate requests as needed.
