Purchasing and Licensing Additional Red Hat Software

Overview


This is the process to purchase and license Red Hat software products not covered by the University's Academic Site Subscription, which is attached to the University's Red Hat Account. This includes Add-on software, such as Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS). This process applies for hosts in which all the following apply:

  • Need to be entitled for products covered by the University's Academic Site Subscription
  • Need to be entitled for additional Red Hat products not covered by the University's Academic Site Subscription
  • Utilize the Campus Satellite.
    For any other situation, please contact the ITS Satellite team, you may do so by sending an email to  campus-rhns@utlists.utexas.edu or opening a ticket here https://ut.service-now.com/sp and ask to be escalated to the Satellite team.

Request Process

Customer

  1. Get quote for the additional Red Hat software products. If you do not have a partner, or have questions, please open a ticket with the Campus Red Hat Satellite Team and they can get a quote for you. You may do so by sending an email to  campus-rhns@utlists.utexas.edu or opening a ticket here https://ut.service-now.com/sp and ask to be escalated to the Satellite team.
  2. When processing the purchase, please ensure the PO says something to the effect of "Entitled To Red Hat Account Number 604857" so the contract gets associated with the UT Red Hat Account.
  3. After the PO is processed, those licenses will be assigned a contract number in the UT Red Hat Account. If you have the contract number, please provide that when opening a ticket in the next step. If you do not have the contract number, please provide the approximate date when you purchased the licenses so the Satellite team may locate your contract number.
  4. The subscriptions need to be attached to your hosts on the Satellite. Open a ticket or update the existing ticket with the names (FQDN) of the hosts, and the contract number if you have it.
