A federation is an association of organizations that come together to exchange information as appropriate about their users and resources to enable collaborations and transactions. It allows authorized campus individuals to use local campus electronic credentials to access shared protected services and resources.1

At this time, the Enterprise Authentication service at the University of Texas at Austin is a member of the following federations:

 

The InCommon Federation

As a member of the InCommon Federation, InCommon provides the university with secure single sign-on access to cloud and local services, and global collaboration tools.

 

The LEARN Federation

As a member of the Lonestar Education and Research Network (LEARN) Identity Federation, the university is connected to over 500 direct and affiliate Texas research institutions and health science centers.

 

The UT System Identity Management Federation

As a member of the UT System Identity Management Federation, the university is connected to the 14 institutions and 240,000 students which make up The University of Texas System.
