PROS

The ThousandEyes product was named based its abilities to monitor a web application or service with "thousands of eyes", i.e. the use of cloud agents all around the world, in addition to in-depth analysis of customer experiences using end-point agents and performance within your network using enterprise agents.

If a web application is cloud based, then monitoring from multiple agents around the world would enable you to prevent false positives if the availability of the campus network comes into question.

CONS

Cost.  Cloud agents are billed based on usage, the number and kinds of tests that are performed and how frequently they run.

PROS

The ITS-Systems implementation of the ThousandEyes product enables our customers to monitor their web applications to ensure they are up and running and running properly utilizing a single enterprise agent.

ITS customers can rapidly diagnose, triage and find problems with real-time performance data and get insights with historical comparisons.

Customer can also communicate trends using completely customizable reports. Capture outages with fine-tuned alerts and collaborate by sharing fully interactive data sets.

CONS

Cloud agents are in very limited availability and must have management approval, thus limiting a majority of tests to the run on the enterprise agent running on the campus network and is subject to the campus connectivity and availability.
