ThousandEyes: Service Maintenance and Monitoring

Maintenance

  • The ThousandEyes product is maintained by the external vendor ThousandEyes.
  • Their service is regularly updated to allow for growth, improvement and correct any issues through patches and new releases.
  • Customers must expect routine maintenance to be scheduled periodically to comply with new standards and updates.
  • Maintenance is usually scheduled on alternating Tuesdays, starting at 6 PM, Pacific time, but may also occur at other times (emergency maintenance).

Monitoring

There are two parts to the Web Application Monitoring service, each with their own unique method of status monitoring:

ThousandEyes Web Console ThousandEyes Enterprise Agent 
  • This web application is operated by the external vendor ThousandEyes.
  • They maintain a website and a twitter feed to enable customers the ability to know if the service is up, degraded, or down.

  • You can check the history of all events here:

  • Service Administrators receive alert emails and planned maintenance emails from ThousandEyes.
  • This is a virtual machines running on the UT-V infrastructure.
  • The agent was installed/configured by the ITS Web Application Monitoring Support Team, but maintained by ThousandEyes.
  • ThousandEyes monitors the agent and reports if any issues are found.
