Step 1 - Register your device (required):

1. Disable Wi-Fi temporarily on your device to ensure you are configuring the wired connection.
2. Plug your device into an Ethernet port using an Ethernet cable.
3. Open a web browser and type “http://register.network.utexas.edu” in the address bar and hit Enter. You will be automatically redirected to the UTLogin page.
   
   1. Note: your browser may display a security warning or a certificate error as the result of web redirect, please ignore the warning and proceed to the redirected site (register.network.utexas.edu).
   2. If the browser continues to timeout and will not redirect, you may try to manually register your device from another one with network access (such as your smartphone).  On the other device go to https://network.utexas.edu and follow the directions.
4. Follow instructions to register your device.
5. You may need to re-enable Wi-Fi on your device if you plan to disconnect from wired.

Step 2 - Secure your connection (optional):

1. If your device is issued/managed by your department, then contact your department's desktop support to enable 802.1x.
