How to create a site or a subsite in SharePoint

You are a site admin or have full control to a site and want to create a new site or subsite





Step 1. Click on gear in the top right corner of you site
Step 2. Select 'Site Contents'
Step 3. In the Site Contents Page, under Subsites heading click on 'new subsite'
Step 4. Provide the following information:

Title - this will show up as the header of the page
Description - this provides a user the purpose of the site
URL Name - a unique name to help create organized structure

Note: Recommended to avoid spaces

Template Selection - refer to this documentation for more detail
Permissions - choose to inherit permissions or create new ones (if this option is chosen after hitting create you will be presented with creating or using existing groups)
Navigation Inheritance - choose to use existing navigational link bar on the new site

Step 5. Click 'Create'
Step 6. You'll be presented with your new Site/Subsite
