WordPress for Texas

WordPress for Texas (WFT) is a custom WordPress distribution provided by ITS for use on the Pantheon Web Hosting service.  WFT includes a UT branded theme and the necessary components to enable users to log in to the WordPress administrative dashboard through the centralized authentication service, Enterprise Authentication.

By default, WFT uses the UT branded theme, UT WordPress, built on the Genesis framework and is designed to meet accessibility standards and UT brand guidelines.

Enterprise Authentication integration can be provided as part of the go live request for your site and is made possible by the inclusion of WP SAML Auth and UTexas EID Auth plugins as well as the simpleSAMLphp library.

Included Plugins and Themes

The following plugins/themes are included in the WFT upstream.

IMPORTANT: Do not update or remove any of these plugins or themes.  Doing so could result in a MERGE CONFLICT next time you attempt to apply an upstream update.

UT WordPress Theme

WFT includes the UT WordPress Theme. This is a customized version of the Genesis Education Pro Theme by StudioPress. It aims to provide a WordPress theme using standardized University brand elements, and improve accessibility compliance while allowing developers to retain control over customization. It is free to the UT community.

We acknowledge and are grateful to the developers at the UT Division of Diversity and Community Engagement for their contributions to the UT WordPress theme.
