The following instructions will allow you to connect your device for wired access on the general networks if it is not a standard Windows or Mac machine (ie. Linux computers, TVs, gaming console).

If your device has a web browser:

  1. Use an Ethernet cable to plug your device into the Ethernet port in your room.
  2. Open a web browser on the connected computer and proceed to “http://www.utexas.edu”. Your browser will redirect you to the “802.1X Configuration” page.
  3. Click on the “Other” icon and enter your EID & password.
  4. Verify the personal information on the next page, accept the ULA and click “Register”.
  5. You are now connected to the wired network and have internet access.

If your device does not have a functional web browser:

  1. Use an Ethernet cable to plug your device into the Ethernet port in your room.
  2. From a device with a working internet connection, go to https://ingress.gw.utexas.edu/mydevice/
  3. Follow the instructions on the page.

Note: You may only register one device.  If multiple registrations are detected, all of your registrations could be deleted.

To cancel a device's registration, call the UT Service Desk at 512-475-9400 or email at help@its.utexas.edu.
