UTmail Mobile Device and Client Configuration

While UTmail offers an easy-to-use web interface for email access, you can also access your UTmail mailbox with a third-party mail client. To configure a third-party email client, you must first enable IMAP within your UTmail account settings.
To enable IMAP in UTmail:
- Sign in to UTmail.
- Click the gear icon in the upper-right and select UTmail settings at the top of any UTmail page.
- Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
- Select Enable IMAP.
- Click Save Changes.
Configure Your Client:
Please use the settings below. These are the basic settings that have been known to work on other clients and devices:
Incoming Settings
- Email address: email address
- Username: email address Make sure you put in the entire email address with the @utexas.edu
- Password: password
- POP server: pop.gmail.com OR IMAP server: imap.gmail.com **You'll need to choose one or the other depending what protocol (POP or IMAP) you are using
- Security Type: SSL
- Server Port: 993 (IMAP) 995 (POP)
Outgoing Server
- Check the box for "Login required"
- Username: email address Make sure you put in the entire email address with the @utexas.edu
- Password: password
- SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
- Security type: SSL
- Server port: 465
Note: When entering your email address or username, always use your full @utexas.edu address.
