Setting up Outlook for Windows

Download and Install the Office Suite

  1. In a web browser, navigate to https://office365.austin.utexas.edu/ , click 'Office 365 Portal' and sign in with your UT EID and password. You may also see a DUO second factor authentication prompt.
  2. You will be re-directed to Microsoft Office Home and you should see an 'Install Apps' link near the top right of the page, download the correct version for your operating system.
  3. Once the download completes, open the .exe installer file and proceed with the installation wizard.

Product Activation and Adding your Mailbox

*Note: Microsoft 365 services are blocked on the Guest network. You must be on the Utexas wifi network in order to sign in to Microsoft 365

  1. Open Outlook. If you have not already activated your Office installation continue to step 2. If Office has already been activated, skip to step 5.
  2. You will see an Activate Office window. Enter your UT Microsoft email address and click Next.
  3. At the UT Austin login page, the top text box should already contain your email address. If not, enter your email or EID in the top text box and enter your EID password in the bottom text box. Click Sign In.
  4. Authenticate with Duo.
  5. On the Outlook sign in window, enter your UT Microsoft email address and click continue.

Add additional email accounts to Outlook using these instructions.
