Biographical information, such as your name and date of birth, are managed in the source systems for the respective data. For example, student biographical information is managed in the student information system and employee biographical information is stored in the employee system.

Those source systems send changes and updates to the EID System, which consolidates and correlates the information, and passes it along to downstream systems (e.g., the UT Directory) within 24 hours.

Employees, former employees, retirees, and contractors who need to change their biographical information should refer to the How do I change information that appears in the University Directory? article in askUS.

Students should review the Personal Information section on Texas One Stop.

  • Students who need to change their legal name should follow the instructions on the Make a Legal Name Change subsection of that page.
  • Students who do not identify with their legal name should follow the instructions under the Designate a Chosen Name subsection of that page.

Student Employees may need to update their biographical information in both the employee information system and the student information system.

Non-members can update their email address information in the Manage My UT EID Profile section of the EID Self-Service Tools.

Once your information has been updated you may need to visit the ID Center to have your University ID Card reissued. Please note that it may take up to 24 hours for the ID Center to receive your updated biographical information.
