Receiving an error message when attempting to connect to an Austin Disk share can be due to a number of causes.
Windows
This error message can occur if:
- The path to the share is incorrect due to misspelling, using forward slashes (/) instead of backslashes (\), et cetera.
- Make sure you're entering the correct path: \\austin.utexas.edu\disk\ShareName
- The path to the share is correct, but you don't have permissions to access it.
- The share requires IPSec, but your computer isn't configured correctly.
- This guide provides options for correctly configuring a Windows computer to use IPSec.
- The share doesn't exist.
- You can request a new share by following this guide.
macOS
This error message can occur if:
- The path to the share is incorrect due to misspelling, using backslashes (\) instead of forward slashes (/), et cetera.
- Make sure you're entering the correct path: smb://austin.utexas.edu/disk/ShareName
- The path to the share is correct, but you don't have permissions to access it.
- The share requires IPSec, but your computer doesn't support it.
- macOS does not support secure SMB connections over IPSec. Please connect using WebDAV instead.
- The share doesn't exist.
