Connecting to Austin Disk Services Using SFTP in Windows with SSH Secure Shell
You will need a SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) client for Windows to connect to Austin Disk Services. ITS recommends the SSH Secure Shell 3.2.9 client included here.
Note: If you are connecting from off campus, establish a VPN connection.
-
Download and install SSH Secure Shell 3.2.9 (available at no cost).
-
Select Start, then All Programs. Select SSH Secure Shell, then Secure File Transfer Client.
-
Select Quick Connect.
-
In the connection window, enter the following values:
-
Host name: "sftp.austin.utexas.edu"
-
User name: Your UT EID
-
Port number: "22"
-
Authentication Method: password
-
-
Select Connect.
-
If you are prompted to save a new host key to local database, answer Yes.
-
Enter your UT EID password at the prompt.
Once you have opened your connection via SSH, you can find the share you wish to access within the disk folder. Note that if you try to access a directory that you do not have permission for, that directory will appear blank in SSH.
