Cancel a Business Process in Workday


How do I cancel a business process in Workday?

Refer to the View, Cancel, or Rescind a Business Process to determine the status of the business process. If a Workday business process has fully completed, then review the rescind matrix and, if applicable, contact askUS@austin.utexas.edu to request the transaction be rescinded. 

If a Workday business process has not fully completed, complete the steps below to cancel it:

  1. Find the business process task in your inbox and click inside it to open it.
  2. Click the Gear icon at the top right corner of the task, and select Cancel from the drop-down menu.

Results: The Cancel Business Process [name of business process for worker] page appears.

  1. Enter a comment or reason for the cancellation at the bottom of the page (required).
  2. Click Submit.

You may also cancel a business process that has not fully completed, is not in your inbox, and that you were the initiator of by completing the steps below:

  1. In the Workday Search bar, type the name of the worker that the business process was completed for and press Enter.
    Note: The search can only find exact matches. If you are unsure of the spelling of the worker’s name, type the first few letters of the first and last name to return results.
  2. Under Search Results, click the correct worker from the list.
  3. Under the worker name, click the Job tab, and then click Worker History.
  4. Click the business process name you wish to cancel from the list.
  5. Click Related Actions next to the Overall Process name and select Business Process > Cancel.
    Results: The Cancel Business Process [name of business process for worker] page appears.
  6. Enter a comment or reason for the cancellation at the bottom of the page (required).
  7. Click Submit.
