Future Time Off Requests in Workday


Does Workday figure future time off requests into an employee’s current time off balance?

Yes. Future time off requests are included when determining the number of hours available for a time off.  Future accruals are also included in the available hours.

Example: A full-time, leave eligible worker earning 8 hours of vacation per month has a 32 hour balance today.  They request 40 hour of Vacation for next month.  This is allowed because they will accrue another 8 hours of vacation on the first of next month bringing their total to 40 hours.  If the worker then tries to take 8 hours of vacation this month, it will not be allowed because that would not leave enough hours for the future request.
