Announcement: Amazon.com Sales Tax Charge for Texas Purchases

Effective July 1, 2012, Amazon.com began collecting sales tax for Texas purchases. As a state agency, The University of Texas at Austin is exempt from sales tax. In order for Amazon.com purchases to qualify for the exemption, each Procurement card (Procard) holder must perform a one-time upload of the Texas Sales Tax Exemption Certificate at least one week prior to the departmental purchase to allow time for processing. Note: If a Procard is used with multiple Amazon.com accounts for university purchases, the Texas Sales Tax Exemption Certificate must be uploaded for each Amazon.com account.

First, download the Texas Sales Tax Exemption Certificate- Amazon.com and then complete a one-time upload of this form to Amazon.com. For step-by-step instructions, see Uploading Sales Tax Exemption Certificate to Amazon.com.
